Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Review
Well, after a long night of playing BFBC2, I have to admit, it is pretty nice for a game to just work.
Game Play:
While the game play is fun, it lacks quite a few things:
- Slow game play.
- Weapons are extremely nerfed(using a full clip to kill a person).
- Sniper rifles are inaccurate(even body cavity shots miss at times).
- Movement (while on foot) is sluggish and lacks in some places.
- Unable to strafe while sprinting.
- Unable to prone.
- To crouch you must hold the button down, no "go prone" but "+toggle prone" instead. If you release the key, you stand again.
- Console disabled (Unknown if this will be changed at a later time).
- Looks a bit cartoony.
- Have to click Enter Battle every time after you die.
However, there are a few things they did get right:
- Vehicles are able to move through things (Destroying them in the process).
- Buildings can be blown up by tank rounds.
- Objectives are conveniently placed on minimap so you know where to go.
- Ability to pick up other players equipment
- Able to repair/heal vehicles/troops.
- RPG/Rockets have an aim assist screen for better accuracy.
Graphics:
While the graphics require more of your computer than other games (MW2) it does not look any more realistic. The graphics are at best 2003 Unreal Tournament Styling. With shading and texture detail at an almost minimalistic setting (while on medium). OVerall, MW2 and even games like Wolfenstein have more realistic effects.
Overall rating: 3/5
For those out there who are interested in buying this game, i would recommend first playing the beta. If you enjoy it, go for it. However at this time i believe the game is lacking in a few too many key points to be worth the $50 or so in purchasing it. Maybe patch 1.5 or 2.0 will fix the above problems. But at this time, until they fix these problems TXC will more than likely not be getting a server.
